About the project
The Everyday Angels Project was conducted in 2009 – 2010 to celebrate the achievements of staff working in aged care services in Victoria. The project team invited the community of Victoria to make postcards describing the achievements of staff working in aged care. Over 200 cards were received. Analysis of the cards identified the achievements of staff working in aged care were that they:
1. Work with love
2. Value older people
3. Promote independence and dignity
4. Enhance emotional wellbeing
5. See the person with dementia
6. Enable meaningful lives
7. Embrace terminally ill clients and their families
8. Strengthen rural and regional communities and their families
9. Listen to clients, recognise diversity and practice person-centred care
A project report has been developed to outline these themes. The report also contains an Everyday Angels Resource Kit - describing the steps involved in undertaking an Everyday Angels project in your organisation. We are inviting all aged care services to declare December ‘Everyday Angels Month’ - and conduct this simple, energising, quality improvement activity in December every year.
